Developing the senior leaders and headteachers of the near future is a key role of teaching schools. Wolds Teaching School Alliance offers a practical, inspirational and effective programme both for aspirant middle leaders looking to make the next move into senior leadership and experienced senior leaders, vice principals and deputy headteachers looking to apply for headship.
‘…to be a school headteacher is one of the most important jobs in the world.’
Professor Tim Brighouse
This developmental immersive experience programme is designed for aspirant headteachers, namely established and experienced senior leaders who are viewed by their own headteacher as being ready to aspire to headship within 24 months.
Serving headteachers (NLEs and LLEs) host a circuit of workshops shaped around the new Headteacher Standards to enable delegates to deepen their understanding of headship, its standards and expectations.
Participants will also receive a session of mentoring with their own designated headteacher mentor, to learn the behaviours and values associated with successful leadership of a school.
The programme takes place over six months and culminates with an application for a fictional post, followed by selection process and interview. Participant received feedback from their headteacher mentor at every stage of the process.
