Sarah is currently a Trust Director of Careers & Employability with extensive experience in post-16 education and leadership and a strong track record of outstanding post-16 teaching and results.
Sarah spent the first 7 years of her role managing the college tutor teams and developing a variety of enrichment and PSHE programmes across the sixth form. The success of this led to her appointment as a Subject Leader of Extended Studies in 2013 which enabled her to manage and lead the General Studies and EPQ departments. Sarah was able to incorporate her outstanding teaching methods into this department which resulted in significant improvements . It was also during this role that Sarah developed her Employer Led Programme; a programme which embeds employability skills development and careers education into the curriculum through internships, master classes and industry mentoring experiences. Sarah was able to use her outstanding networking skills to build up a very strong relationship with over 70 local businesses and employers across our region. It was a programme that received national recognition in The Parliamentary Review.
Sarah’s success at South Hunsley Sixth Form has led her to undertake roles right across the trust to support other senior leaders. She is currently working with the Head of Sixth Form at Driffield School to build enrichment and employability programmes into their curriculum to help young people access the most competitive job roles and drive the recruitment strategy there.
She is also working with Malet Lambert School to create employer programmes in specialist subjects such as engineering and computing to ensure that their students can access more course options and enrichment opportunities to enhance their future CV and job applications.
Her most recent piece of work is the development of an Apprenticeship Preparation Programme which will allow young people to explore apprenticeship opportunities and prepare for them before they are appointed. It’s an initiative that has received national recognition as Sarah has been selected as one of the 16 finalists for the National Apprenticeship Awards 2017.
