Alison is Director of Science and is a dedicated and enthusiastic leader who strives to inspire others in the school community to achieve their best, through positive relationships, commitment to their development and an absolute belief in their potential.
In her role as Director of Science, Alison has developed rigorous self-evaluation systems underpinning the improvement of the quality of learning and teaching within the department. She has facilitated excellence in teaching through the training of colleagues, inspiring them to critically reflect upon their practice, encouraging them to take risks and try new strategies to continuously develop and raise standards. Alison has coached and mentored a range of practitioners, from NQTs to experienced classroom teachers and subject leaders.
Alison has developed bespoke CPD programmes, based on the information gathered from a rigorous process of self-evaluation in science. The implementation of a coaching programme has had a huge impact in developing staff pedagogy, with tangible learning gains seen in the classroom.
Alison has shared good practice at regional subject leaders’ meetings, where she has been asked to give a range of presentations, including “Raising Achievement in Science”, “Effective Assessment” and “Creative Curriculum Development”.
