Helen is an experienced teacher across all three key stages in Science and has previously held the posts of Key Stage 4 coordinator for data and intervention in Science and Head of Chemistry. In her current role as School Improvement Leader she is focussing on developmental observations combined with coaching and providing high impact professional development through training sessions and utilising social media in the form of teacher blogging and twitter, as continual improvement of teaching and learning is central to our moral mission as teachers. Helen has coordinated the initial Teacherlink sessions for English, Maths and Science and regularly leads training sessions with both NQTs and those still in teacher training.
Helen believes that we should enable teachers to be open minded about alternative approaches and allow students to become empowered with life skills and a passion for their subject. Helen is committed to learning and achieving excellence and this can be seen through the pedagogy based professional development that she has entered into through her Masters in Science Education in association with King’s College London and her participation in the National Middle Leadership Teaching Leaders Scheme. She has also completed the National Professional Qualification in Middle Leadership in association with the National College.
