Julie Wickenden is an experienced senior leader and has gained a wealth of experience and expertise in narrowing gaps in attainment during that time. Julie is committed to ensuring that all students – whatever their background – are able to reach their full potential. She has passionately worked to establish highly skilled and effective teams to implement her vision for inclusion and narrowing gaps in attainment.
Her work with Pupil Premium students has been highly praised by Sir John Dunford and South Hunsley won the Regional Pupil Premium Award in 2014. The work on narrowing gaps in attainment was judged outstanding by OFSTED. In her current role as an Assistant Head Julie is responsible for embedding inclusion services into a new house structure; implementation of the new SEND Code; narrowing gaps in attainment for disadvantaged groups; early intervention in literacy and numeracy; and safeguarding – with particularly emphasis on improving students’ access to external services.
Julie works at a strategic level within the East Riding Local Authority and contributes to the Director of Children’s Services Youth Boarg, Women & Young People’s Well Being Commissioning Group and improving links between schools and CAMHS. She also works closely with Youth and Family Support Services at a strategic level to improve young people’s access to targeted interventions across the East Riding. Julie is committed to growing the expertise of others either in her own school or in others and is a passionate advocate for disadvantaged students within her school community.
