A number of the Wolds Teaching School Alliance schools have their own track record of providing high quality support to other schools and school leaders.
Chris Abbott, Executive Principal at South Hunsley, was successfully appointed as a National Leader in Education (NLE) in 2009 with the school operating as a National Support School (NSS), acknowledging Chris’ outstanding leadership and the work of key staff within the school. We have proven experience of bringing schools out of Special Measures, recognising that every school is individual and will have individual needs. Having worked closely with the NCTL and Department for Education to provide programmes of support and training to schools across a number of local authorities and regions. We also know that there are lots of reasons why a school can be placed in Special Measures and it will have both areas for improvement and areas of good practice.
The wealth of knowledge and expertise recognised amongst South Hunsley’s partners echoes the teaching school’s own experience of school-to-school support. Local Leaders of Education accredited by the National College of Teaching and Leadership, Janet Huscroft (Headteacher at Hook Primary), Dave McCready (Headteacher at Wolfreton) and Jean Pickerill (Headteacher at The Snaith School) have each been commissioned in recent years to support school leaders to raise standards in their own institutions, and across the Alliance we have an enviable portfolio of teaching and educational experts we can call upon to help undertake improvements, including our Specialist Leaders of Education (see Our Experts) and the links we have forged with our fellow TSAs and their leaders across the local region.
