Angela is an experienced Key Stage 3, 4 and 5 English teacher and has a wide experience of coaching and mentoring throughout the school. Angela also passionately believes that the role of the teacher is to empower all pupils to become autonomous and creative learners, hence her active involvement in the SLE programme. Her areas of expertise are English, the development of learning and teaching, coaching and mentoring, and drama.
In her current role, Angela is responsible for the development of teaching staff through coaching and mentoring and sharing of good practice. In the past, Angela has worked with several schools and those who have worked with her have always felt comfortable approaching Angela to observe and evaluate ‘best’ practice.
Following on from Angela’s open door policy at her current school, she has delivered model lessons focussing on the learning and teaching needs of all staff. During a period of secondment to a ‘special measures’ school, Angela worked with the Head of English to carry out a training needs analysis for the English team, using Angela’s experience of what constitutes outstanding English teaching. Angela also supported a mentoring exercise with a team of English teachers for the purpose of improving rigour and standards in teaching and learning.
