Carrie is an innovative Physical Education teacher with a vast array of experience in KS3, 4, and 5. This experience has allowed Carrie to offer coaching and mentoring throughout the school which has had a positive outcome on teaching and learning.
Carrie is a Level 2 Kagan expert which has had a profound impact on the way she teaches outstanding lessons throughout all key stages of the curriculum. Carrie is passionate about implementing a consistent and effective use of Kagan structures into all her colleagues teaching pedagogy. It is her strong belief that the effective use of collaborative learning will engage all learners and ensure that progress within all lessons is rapid and sustained.
Carrie’s current role as Lead Practitioner in Physical Education has given her the perfect platform to implement Kagan teaching tools across the department and whole school. Having delivered in-house training to senior leaders, middle leaders and teaching staff across the federation, staff have had the opportunity to learn the ethos behind Kagan and explore the differences between group work v’s collaborative learning within a classroom setting. An opportunity for staff to observe the use of Kagan in lessons is actively encouraged with many staff utilising this provision. An open door policy is essential for the Kagan ethos to continue to flourish which will continue to move teaching and learning towards our outstanding goal. Many staff have commented on how work load has been reduced and student engagement increased after implementing structures learnt from staff training sessions that Carrie has delivered. This has been a rewarding role that motivates me to help more colleagues throughout the federation and beyond.
