Rachel is an experienced Key Stage 3 and 4 Science teacher and Head of Department with vast experience in coaching and mentoring throughout her career. Rachel’s interests lie within Science and raising pupil achievement as she believes that all students deserve experiences that allow them to make progress regardless of ability or starting point.
In her current role Rachel is responsible for the development of Science staff through mentoring and coaching, sharing good practice, CPD and self-evaluation/improvement planning.
Rachel has worked in several schools across Hull and has increased capacity within the department by empowering those around her. Rachel has completed the NPQML and is currently completing the NPQSL in addition to supporting other colleagues with their own NPQML completion. Through her work on the NPQSL she is working across the Academy by coaching the middle leadership team. This work is supporting the Self-evaluation process at department level and further supports the raising attainment agenda for all pupils.
Rachel operates an open door policy to allow staff from across her Academy to develop strategies for improving teaching and learning. Rachel’s department follow suit and are recognised as outstanding practitioners in a variety of different teaching and learning strategies.
